Voice and Data communications services commence

In 2003, Mega Tech Networks (a Monument subsidiary) won a Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) bid for a 3.5 Ghtz license to provide voice and data services in Kano State. Services were rolled out as planned, and the license expanded to provide mobile CDMA services in three states. The business was successfully exited in 2008.

Marginal Oilfield Acquired

In 2001, Monument bid and won a marginal oil and gas field as part of a consortium of indigenous companies who participated in the Marginal Field bid round arranged by the Nigeria Government. The company also invested in the first indigenous oil exploration and production company, Niger Delta Petroleum Development Company.
